School hours:
The school day commences at 9.05am. The children may be dropped off from 8:55am.
Break times are as follows: 10.45am - 11:05am and 12.30pm – 12:50pm.

School finishes at 2.40pm for First to Sixth Class.
Uniforms:
The school uniform consists of navy trousers / skirt / pinafore, navy jumper / cardigan and light blue polo shirt. All items should be labelled with your child’s name.
Children are expected to wear the full uniform each day. Parents are asked to ensure that their children’s footwear is suitable for school activities. A comfortable pair of
runners is very suitable for wearing each day.
Attendance / Absences:
We encourage full attendance at school at all times. Should a child be absent for any reason, parents must provide in writing, the reason for their child’s absence. This can be done via Aladdin, a written note in the child’s diary or email sent to the school. This must be received for every absence (full or partial day), and they are kept on file in the
school.
The Principal is required to notify the Education Welfare Officer of absences exceeding 20 days or more (Section 21).
School Ethos:
St. Caillins National School promotes the full and harmonious development of all aspects of the child; intellectual, physical, cultural, moral and spiritual.
We promote these values in a learning community, where children can safely grow in knowledge and understanding and in the acquisition of skills, attitudes and values.
We are fully committed to offering a quality education by:
• valuing and developing the potential of our staff and the children within our care;
• establishing the foundations of lifelong learning;
• We are collaborative; we aim to work in partnership with parents by welcoming parents into the school, and keeping them fully informed of school policy and the progress of their own children.
• We have created a stimulating, well-ordered environment for learning, in which we hope all children will be inspired to thrive and succeed.
It is of huge importance to us that our pupils feel included, safe and happy within their learning environment.
Our aim is that all children should leave St. Caillins N.S. with competence in reading, writing and numeracy, an enthusiasm for learning, a thirst for knowledge, an appreciation of each other and the world in which they live.
Most of all, we hope that they leave with many happy memories of their primary school days here with us in St. Caillins National School.
