6th Class Graduation: Our graduation ceremony took place on Friday 19th June. It was a truly lovely ceremony which included some wonderful singing and dancing. There was a special performance by 6th class children who sang Hannah Montana’s ‘I’ll Always Remember You’. Refreshments were served after for all the parents and the children were treated to an ice cream. It was a very memorable day for all involved. The children who are graduated from St. Caillins N.S. are: Shónagh Conefrey, Ciara Conlon, Laura Connolly, Kayla Crinnigan, Dj Dolan, Kate Duignan, Leah Flood, Éanna Flynn, Conor Gill, Conor Hargaden, Daire Kavanagh, Ella Mc Loughlin, Katie Moffatt, Naoise Shortt, Varya Troshchii, Amy Walpole, Nicole Wrynn, Mykola Yuschenko. They were a fantastic group of children who were wonderful role models to all the younger children in the school and we will miss them dearly. We would like to take this opportunity to wish them the very best of luck in the future.

WellEd Ireland: Conor Cullen, from WellEd Ireland came to the school on Fridays for six weeks and ran a pilot programme. It was a fun, engaging wellbeing programme that supports children’s social, emotional, physical and mental wellbeing through play-based activities and teamwork challenges. During the sessions, all children took part in a variety of movement activities, cooperative games and group challenges designed to build confidence, communication, teamwork and participation in a positive and inclusive environment. The children all thoroughly enjoyed it. We would like to thank the B.O.M. for supporting this programme and paying for it.

First Holy Communion: The 2nd class children made their First Holy Communion on the 25th April. The children who made their Communion are Eoin Donnelly, Ruairí Flynn, Luke McLoughlin, Brian Redican, Daniel Redican, David Reynolds and Kerri Rose Wrynn.
The ceremony was truly lovely. They were a credit to themselves and to their parents.
Thanks to all the children’s parents for their support and kindness leading up to this special day.
Thank you to Mrs. Scollan and Máire Kielty who prepared the school children’s choir for the First Communion ceremony. Their singing was truly beautiful and it was very much appreciated by all the parents and Communion children. Thank you to Fr. Nigel for the lovely ceremony and for his commitment and dedication to the children.
We would like to thank Senior Infant and First Class Parents who organised the lovely food in the Community Centre after the Ceremony. It was truly appreciated by the staff, parents and children.

New Green Flag: We take great pleasure in informing you that our application for the Green Flag award for the Global Citizenship (Marine Environment) theme has been successful. This is the school’s 8th green flag. Congratulations to the children on all their hard work and achievement, particularly the 4th, 5th and 6th class boys and girls who were a part of our green school’s committee. We thank Mrs. Bloxham for all her work on the Green Flag award and for working with the children on the Green Schools Committee.

Heritage in Schools: Heather Bothwell visited the school on Friday 1st May as part of Heritage in Schools. All classes went outside and investigated bugs and insects in the school environment. The children really enjoyed the experience.

Seachtain na Gaeilge agus Lá Glas: Seachtain na Gaeilge (1st – 17th March) provided a perfect opportunity to celebrate our native Irish language. The students were encouraged to speak as much Gaeilge as possible and each child participated every day in Irish conversations. Lá Glas took place on Monday 16th March and it was a great way for the school to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and our Irish culture. Everyone in the school, students and staff wore something green. Each class participated where they sang songs, danced or recited poems. They practiced lots during the lead up to this lovely and enjoyable day. Images and videos can be found on our gallery page.

FAI 5 a side Soccer County Finals: Our boys and girls 5 a side soccer teams took part in the FAI South Leitrim Qualifiers in Gurteen Astro Turf on Wednesday 4th of March. Two girl’s teams and one boys team participated and after a day of high quality football, both girl’s teams qualified for the Leitrim County Finals with the boys unfortunately losing out on penalties. The Leitrim County Finals took place in Bee Park, Manorhamilton on Wednesday April 15th. All teams can hold their heads high after some wonderful performances throughout the competition.

Heritage in Schools: Fionnuala Maxwell came to the school on 25th March, through the Heritage in Schools scheme. She visited every class over the day. She sang songs from the locality and talked to them about lots of different historical aspects of Fenagh. The children thoroughly enjoyed her visit.

Athletics: The children in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes participated in the Sports Hall Athletics on Wednesday March 11th. They did a variety of field and track relays. They all enjoyed the day.

SEAI Workshop: A workshop by Ingrid Foley from Sustainable Energy Ireland was held for the classes from Junior Infants up to 3rd on Wednesday February 25th here in the school.

Zak Moradi: Zak Moradi came to the school to talk to our 4th/5th and 6th class on Monday, February 25th. He spoke to the children about his RTÉ Documentary ‘The Story of Zak Moradi’, which tells the story of how Zak and his family fled the Gulf War in Iraq and found refuge in Ireland. Zak was welcomed with open arms to his first home in Carrick on Shannon and later went on to represent Leitrim Hurlers in Croke Park. The children found the talk very informative and very interesting.

Cumann na mBunscol Quiz:
The Cumann na mBunscol quiz took place on Thursday 22nd January. The children did very well and we are proud of them all.

Christmas Carol Service: Our Christmas carol service took take place on Wednesday 10th December in St. Mary’s Church. We would like to thank Máire who played the piano so beautifully and to Mrs Scollan for leading and directing the choir for the carol service. They did an amazing job and the beautiful choir was a credit to them. The children were all wonderful and so well behaved from beginning to end.

Pantomime: 1st to 6th class went to Dublin to see “The Snow Queen” on Thursday 4th December in the Helix. This was a fantastic experience and the children really enjoyed it. Thank you so much to the Parent’s Association who covered the cost of all meals in The Lakeside Manor Hotel on the day. We are very thankful to them for their kindness.
The children in Junior and Senior infants went to see “Little Bo-peep’s Christmas Mix-up” in the Dock theatre in Carrick on Shannon on Wednesday 3rd December. They had a really lovely experience and were full of joy when they returned to the school.

Bake Sale: We held a bake sale on Tuesday the 21st of October at 9.15am. We would like to thank all those who dropped in cakes, buns etc and those who purchased goods on the day. Your support is truly appreciated.

Cross-Country: Cross-country athletics took place in Ballinamore on Wednesday the 8th of October with 27 of our pupils taking part. All our athletes were fantastic with Eanna Flynn taking 2nd place in his race and Nicole Wrynn, Kayla Crinnigan, Shonagh Conefrey and Ella McLoughlin all finishing in the top 12 in their race qualifying for Connacht on the 18th of October in Loughrea.

Mini 7’s: The Mini 7’s took place in Aughavas on Wednesday September 24th with our boys’ team qualifying for the Leitrim finals with great wins over Carrigallen, Aughavas, Ballinamore and Gortletteragh.
Our girls team were out the following day Thursday September 25th in Drumshanbo narrowly losing out to Carrigallen after winning 3 of their 4 games.
The final took place on 1st October in Drumshanbo where our boys put in a fantastic effort in beating Mohill, Dowra and just losing out to Diffreen in a playoff after extra time.
